Call for Entry: Henry Goodman Exhibition for Emerging Artists

You may remember BREAKTHROUGH, our first emerging artist exhibition in 2018 — a vibrant and engaging showcase of the next generation of clay and glass artists from across Canada.

During the pandemic, BREAKTHROUGH expanded to include artists at all stages and became BREAKTHROUGH PLUS, which included the works featured in these slides. Now, we’re excited to return to our original focus on emerging talent with this new biennial exhibition, presented in honour of Henry Goodman.

The inaugural Henry Goodman Exhibition for Emerging Artists invites emerging ceramic and glass artists to respond to the theme GATHERING with functional or sculptural work completed since January 2024. Juried by 2025 Sobey Art Award finalist Chukwudubem Ukaigwe, the exhibition will travel to three Ontario galleries: the Art Gallery of Burlington, Rails End Gallery in Haliburton, and Neilson Park Creative Arts Centre in Mississauga.

Vanesa Trillia is part of CONNECT ONLINE, designed to connect artists and audiences beyond geographic boundaries and offer an accessible platform to experience the depth and diversity of work from artists across Ontario and beyond. This year’s exhibition is juried by Teresa Dunlop.

Posted with regram • @carnegie_gallery On display starting on the 6th- “The View from Here, with You” is an exhibition by Sydni Weatherson, a multidisciplinary artist working primarily in blown and engraved glass. Come listen to Sydni speak about her craft on February 15! 🏺No registration required.

“The View From Here With You” explores abstracted landscapes and the hazy details when recalling a memory, as told through the surface of a vase. Dissecting relationships, acting as love letters, or notes of apology and remorse, these works also include engraved images of my own personal symbology. The colour palettes for each piece are drawn from landscapes from across the GTA, the Niagara Escarpment, and parts of Western Canada.

Sydni Weatherson is a multidisciplinary artist working primarily in blown and engraved glass at Harbourfront Centre in Toronto, Ontario. She attended Sheridan College from 2017 to 2022, graduating from the Bachelor of Crafts and Design program in the spring of 2022.
