The Henry Goodman Exhibition for Emerging Artists
FUSION is pleased to present the inaugural Henry Goodman Exhibition for Emerging Artists, a juried exhibition featuring emerging ceramic and glass artists from across the community.
â
Centered on the theme GATHERING, the exhibition brings together a range of functional and sculptural works that explore ideas of connection, community, ritual, and shared experience. Each artist offers a personal interpretation of gathering—what it means to come together, to hold space, and to create meaning through objects and interaction.
â
Juried by Chukwudubem Ukaigwe, 2025 Sobey Art Award finalist, the exhibition highlights a dynamic group of emerging voices working in clay and glass today.

MEET THE JUROR
CHUKWUDUBEM UKAIGWE
Chukwudubem Ukaigwe is an artist, curator and writer born in Lagos, Nigeria. He works in ceramics, sound, video and installation, often mixing these materials to tell stories in fresh and unexpected ways. His clay pieces play with form and surface, sometimes blending traditional techniques with experimental ideas. Collaboration is a big part of his practice, and he enjoys building projects with community members and other artists. Chukwudubem is a founding member of Patterns Collective, graduated with a BFA from the University of Manitoba and was recently shortlisted for the 2025 Sobey Art Award.

ABOUT HENRY GOODMAN
My name is Alexa Young
This exhibition honours the legacy of Henry Goodman, a devoted ceramic artist and passionate supporter of emerging talent. Henry graduated as Valedictorian from Central Technical School in Toronto and forged a successful career in advertising before health challenges in his early forties turned his focus fully to art.
Henry devoted himself to his studio practice, taught glazing at OCAD University, led art classes at Cummer Middle School, and served as President of FUSION in the 1990s. His blend of creative excellence and generous mentorship enriched the clay and glass community. His deep commitment to early-career artists continues to inspire the field today.
