Posted with regram • @cdnclayandglass The Canadian Clay & Glass Gallery is delighted to announce that Gordon Boyd of Oakville, Ontario, is the Winner of the 2025 RBC Award for Glass! Gordon will receive a $10,000 prize to support the development of his career, and his work will be featured in an exhibition alongside the finalists of the award this fall at the Canadian Clay & Glass Gallery.

An opening reception presenting the 2025 award will be held on Sunday, September 28, 2025, at 2pm.

The only national award for emerging glass artists in Canada, the RBC Award is a prestigious honour. Presented through an ongoing partnership with The RBC Foundation, winners and finalists of the award are recognized as the best and brightest of the future of Canadian glass art.

The 2025 RBC Award for Glass was juried by Benjamin Kikkert, Cheryl Wilson-Smith, and Franklin Silverstone. On the jurying process, they state: “We were thrilled by the exceptional quality and impressive number of applicants for this year's prestigious RBC Award for Glass. Artists from across the country were well represented, making the decision an especially difficult one. We are truly grateful to have had the opportunity to view such outstanding work and deeply appreciate the time and effort each applicant put into their submissions.”

The exhibition opened with a special reception on May 30 at the @greatlakesmuseumkingston in Kingston, Ontario—and now you have even more time to experience it! Fireworks 2025’s next location will be Gagné Contemporary in Toronto from August 15 - September 13, 2025.

We’re still reeling from a phenomenal conference weekend, along with the opening of Fireworks 2025 in Kingston, Ontario. The opening was an incredibly special event, with a record attendance of 160 people who came to celebrate the remarkable clay and glass talents of our exhibiting artists. The conference was epic from start to finish, from our vendor room full of the best goodies imaginable, to the mug and bowl table, raffles, and opportunities to mingle with OUR people! Of course, the Women in Clay conference would not be the wonderful event it was without our three star presenters: Naomi Clement @naomikclement , Grace Han @gracehanclay , and Candice Methe @candice_methe . We are infinitely inspired!

We’d like to take a moment to thank those who made it all possible, starting with our partner in bringing these events to life: the Kingston Potters’ Guild @kingstonpottersguild : one of the most passionate groups of potters and volunteers in the province. A special thanks goes out to Tania Craan @odessa_project for doing the design work for our conference posters and keepsake Women in Clay lapel pins.

The opening was a great success thanks to the Great Lakes Museum @greatlakesmuseumkingston and its staff, The Everly @theeverlykingston , MacKinnon Brothers Brewing @mackinnonbrewing , McDougall and MNP @mnpllp for our refreshments and nibbles, and Butternut Creek Group @butternutcreekflowers for the stunning floral arrangements.
