FUSION MEMBER EXCLUSIVE: In partnership with The Ye11ow Studio with Dawn & Jay Middleton.
Join a small group of makers for an immersive wood and soda firing in Prince Edward County using a traditional two-chamber noborigama kiln. This FUSION-member-exclusive week offers a rare opportunity to work collaboratively through the full firing cycle — from planning and loading to sustained firing and unloading.
Participants will explore how flame, wood ash, soda, and heat interact with clay to create rich, atmospheric surfaces that can’t be achieved in electric firing. Clay experience is recommended; prior wood-firing experience is not required.
What’s Included
-
Collaborative kiln loading and firing with guidance from Dawn and Jay Middleton
-
Firing of up to 10–20 bisqued pieces (size guidance provided in advance)

About Dawn Middleton
Dawn Middleton is a Canadian ceramic artist and the founder and president of The Ye11ow Studio in Prince Edward County. Her work is shaped by a lifelong relationship with clay, fire, and place, and by years of wood-firing experience across Europe, Southeast Asia, and the United States. Dawn is drawn to the quiet power of process—where time slows, materials speak, and community gathers around the kiln. Through Ye11ow’s Come Fire With Us experiences, she invites participants into a shared rhythm of making, reflection, and transformation guided by flame.
