The 2025 Conference: WOMEN IN CLAY took place in beautiful downtown Kingston, Ontario, and was presented in partnership with the Kingston Potters’ Guild. The theme, Women in Clay, celebrated the outstanding work of three presenters: Naomi Clement, Candice Methe, and Grace Han.

The opening of our Fireworks 2025 exhibition at the Great Lakes Museum was on May 30, kicking off the conference weekend.
Fun Times!
Conference guests took part in the mug and bowl sale, shopped the vendor booths with exclusive deals, won raffle prizes, and joined us for the Saturday night social at the Wharf and Feather Bar in the lobby of the Holiday Inn.

Meet the Presenters

Candice Methe

Candice Methe, based in North Carolina, has over 20 years of experience in ceramics. She specializes in coil building and pinching techniques, creating earthy, textured works inspired by nature and travel that reflect the natural landscapes she finds inspiring. She has shared her love for ceramics in many settings, from classrooms to hands-on workshops and enjoys guiding others to discover the joy of working with clay.

Grace Han

Originally from South Korea and now based in Canada, Grace Han draws from both traditional Korean pottery and contemporary design, blending cultural heritage with modern aesthetics. Her expertise lies in traditional Korean ceramics, honed in Seoul, South Korea, and expanded during her MFA studies at the University of Manitoba. Now an Assistant Professor, she bridges traditional techniques with contemporary exploration in her work and teaching.

Naomi Clement

A Canadian ceramic artist and educator, Naomi Clement explores themes of home and belonging through functional ceramics. With an MFA from Louisiana State University (2017), her work has been showcased across North America. Naomi is an advocate for Canadian ceramics as a member of the collective Make and Do.
