FUSION is proud to present a brand new opportunity for you to learn from and interact with well-known or up-and-coming ceramic and glass artists from Ontario! No matter where you are in the world, these live, two-hour web broadcast sessions will have you feeling like you're sitting in the same room as one another, all united by your immense love and dedication to the craft. Each FUSION Makers Meet will be led by a talented artist, with whom you can chat and ask questions with live.

Daumante Stirbyte was born and raised in Lithuania in 1992, but moved to Ireland in 2007. She graduated from the National College of Art and Design, Ireland in 2016 with  BDes(Hons) in Craft Design, specializing in ceramics.

She was an international artist in residence at the London Clay Art Centre (ON) from 2017 to 2020, where she still works as an instructor.

Since moving to Canada Daumante has taken part in numerous group shows, exhibitions and fundraisers. Her piece ‘Inflorescence’ was named Best in Show at Fusion’s 2018 Emerging artist exhibition (ON). Represented by The Gardiner Museum in Toronto and The Benz Gallery in London. She’s currently working from her home studio in London, ON.

Workshop Description

In this two hour demonstration, Daumante will show how she uses press molds to create some of her hand-built pieces, as well as the making and assembly of more intricate details that follow after the main form is complete. Finished work examples will be shown for comparison.

Due to COVID-19 precautions, this session of Makers Meet will be pre-recorded and sent out to registrants to view at 10am on Nov 22, 10AM EST. A live Q&A will follow the recorded video at 12 noon EST.

This recording will be available for two weeks for registrants after the live event.
