FUSION FALL WORKSHOP 2017 with Chandra DeBuse
Saturday and Sunday, Oct 21-22, 10am-4pm
In conjunction with the Ottawa Guild of Potters, FUSION is proud to present our 2017 Fall Workshop with Chandra DeBuse.
In this two-day workshop, students will learn new ways of designing, building and illustrating their forms by working with soft clay slabs. Chandra will share how she translates sketches into 3-dimensional forms by using simple and inexpensive materials, such as wood, bisqued clay and craft foam through hand-building and wheel-throwing techniques.
Chandra will explore surface design on her pots, demonstrating techniques for freehand drawing, direct image transfer, underglaze inlay, brushwork, sgraffito, texture and the use of wax and underglaze to create a layered, colorful surface.
This workshop will be suitable for beginning to advanced hand-building or wheel throwing students. Although the techniques and discussion will be focused on pottery and surfaces for midrange electric, the workshop will be valuable for any student striving to develop a more cohesive relationship between form and surface in their own clay work.
The workshop will be held at:
