This workshop will address different approaches to presenting narrative in ceramics and technical approaches used in Carole's sculptural and functional work.

Demonstrations will include: an easy method of making casting slip; basic mold making; methods of combining slipcast and handbuilt components; functional and sculptural design considerations; Mishima technique; handmade stamp design and construction; and the use of underglaze and china paints for decoration.

Hands-on component will include: creating templates out of foam sheets for stamping; sketching and design drawing; and the Mishima process. Slide talk will include: artist talk and past work and themes of work; influential artists; and social media for craft artists.

Participants are encouraged to bring: bone dry pieces to decorate; sketchbook; scissors; and x-acto knife.
Carole Epp is a Saskatoon, Saskatchewan based artist. She earned her Masters Degree in Ceramics from the Australian National University. She produces both sculptural and functional objects.
