FIREWORKS 2019 CALL FOR ENTRY


FUSION: The Ontario Clay and Glass Association is pleased to invite its members to submit work for consideration for Fireworks 2019. The tradition of Fireworks Exhibitions started almost 40 years ago and is the largest travelling exhibition of clay and glass in the country. 

Deadline for submissions: Friday, April 16, 2019, 5pm


PURPOSE

1.   To exhibit the best work of FUSION members executed since January 2017 in an exhibition called FIREWORKS 2019, which will travel for two years throughout Ontario to show the work in public venues.

2.   To collect images of the recent work of FUSION members for publicity, documentary and archival purposes.

3.   To present the work of FUSION members to nationally recognized jurors. Selected jurors for Fireworks 2019 are:

·      Katrina Chaytor; Professor Emeritus, Alberta College of Art + Design 

·      Denis Longchamps PhD, Executive Director, Canadian Clay and Glass Gallery

TIMELINE

1.     Submission deadline: Tuesday, APRIL 16, 2019.
2.     All applicants will be informed of the jury’s decision by email by MAY 4, 2019. Results will not be given by telephone.
3.     All accepted work must be delivered to Earls Court Gallery in Hamilton, Ontario between Tuesday MAY 14 and Saturday, MAY 18, 2019. More details will be provided upon acceptance.
4.     Prizes will be awarded at the FIREWORKS 2019 Reception on MAY 31, 2019 at Earls Court Gallery in Hamilton, Ontario.

SUBMISSION FEES
  
$ 45.20 (including HST) for one entry
$ 50.85 (including HST) for two entries

$ 56.50 (including HST) for three entries

Awards will be given in the following categories*:
  • Henry Goodman Best In Show Award  $ 1,000

  • Scarborough Potters’ Guild of Cedar Ridge Purchase Award 
    The work is purchased for the FUSION PERMANENT COLLECTION which consists of over 100 works gathered since 1975, and is housed at the Art Gallery of Burlington.

  • Pottery Supply House Award of Merit          $500 gift certificate

  • Tucker’s Pottery Supplies Award of Merit     $500 gift certificate

  • FUSION Board Award of Merit  $100

  • FUSION Emerging Artist Award                    $250  
    Students enrolled full-time in an art program at an accredited college or  university or recent graduates of a clay or glass program with 5 years or less working experience are eligible      

  • FUSION Fireworks Design Award.     $ 250
    Plus one-year membership to FUSION          
                                                     
  • FUSION Education Award
    Registration for one workshop or annual conference

  • Craft Ontario Affiliate Design Award.
    One year professional membership to Craft Ontario

    It is possible to win more than one award. FUSION reserves the right to withhold an award if there is no prize-worthy entry. Prizes will be awarded after selected works are examined.

        Earls Court Gallery, Hamilton

        Thames Gallery, Chatham

        Canadian Clay and Glass Gallery, Waterloo

        Rails End Gallery, Haliburton

        The Art Gallery of Burlington, Burlington
